Shift allowance entitlement?

hello there,

I'm wondering if someone could clear this up for me.

Ive worked for the same company for 8 years, in october last year I got offered a job in a different department working 2 days a week doing a supervisory role. I now work 3 days a week in one department, and 2 days in the other as a supervisor.

As part of this supervisory role, I was asked if I wanted to work 1 sunday in 4 as part of a shift - in return i'd receive shift allowance and enhanced pay.

I've received my payslip to find that I'm getting 40% of what the other supervisors are getting, despite the fact that i'm working exactly the same hours and shift on the weekends.

I'm assuming this is because i'm only doing the supervisory role for 2 days a week. It doesn't seem right that I'm doing the same hours and days as the others, but getting paid less than half than them - does this sound right?

any replies would be greatly appreciated.

sorry isthat 40% of the total ie two days worth , or 40% of the enhanced shift rate?

sorry, i wasn't very clear.

the other supervisors receive £130 for working the same shifts. I received £52 - I'm assuming its been adjusted to my contracted hours. Im on a contract where i'm 0.6 in one team and 0.4 in the supervisory team.

however, this shift working is not part of my contract, its optional.

From what I understand from your post, you are reciving the supervisors shift allowence for the portion of the week that you are working as a supervisor, and not reciving the superviors shift allowence for the part of the week that you are not a supervisor. which seems pretty fair to me.

Would you perfer to be paid the superviors wage all week, how is that fair on your colleagues who you work alongside for the 3 days a week?

Thats incorrect. The shift relates to a seperate weekend service in which we all take it in turns to do the same job. Completely unrelated to the weekday working

Sorry, I have just re-read your first post having recived the benifit of a couple of cups of tea in me. I retract my first comments; and would suggest that you discuss the matter with either HR or your line manager to understand the diffrence in pay. then decide if you fancy continuing to give up your weekends
