  • Cover for sick leave

    Question for new user:

    Hi,
I work for ( a company with field agents collecting payments on loans) for the last 10yrs never been on the sick until now ,they tell you you've got to have a deputy which I got, but because the deputy is in arrears with them they will not let her cover for me. (](understandable if collecting cash)

I've had a few phone calls from the manager ,saying I've got to find someone who can cover my job , what I won't to know can they pay me off because I can't find anybody to do it ,I've been off 2 weeks I found cover with another agent but she can't cover for me this week

I'm under so much pressure worrying about my job ,the doctor has put me on the sick for a month waiting for MRI scan for slipped disc

    Thank you

    Re: Cover for sick leave

    Is she directly employed??

How on earth can it be an employees responsibility to arrange cover for their own sick leave....???
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

      Re: Cover for sick leave

Good point. It sounds as though agents are self employed ( .................... give customers an opportunity to discuss their xxxxxxxx needs and xxxxxxxxxxx circumstances with an experienced, self employed xxxxxxxxxxx representative, known as an Agent.) I'll check the situation with regards tax and NI.

                Re: Cover for sick leave

Sounds like your paid commissions. And it sounds like your part of an Multi level Marketing scheme. I.e. you signed up under a local manager who also earns commission on the amounts you and all others that signed up under her collect on loan repayments. Just like you earn commission on what your deputy collects.

Regarding cover and sickness and whether they can pay you off, well we need to see your contract with the company to determine what they can and can not do. Because as your self employed you are in fact a business in your own right that is being contracted by the loan company to collect the loan repayments, so it is likely your responsibility.

Sounds like the Manager is also self employed and your her deputy - So personally i would contact the credit company directly and explain the situation as they may well be more helpful than your local manager, if my assumption said manager is also self employed just like you are, is correct.

And that my dear is the power card that you have hidden up your sleeve - Whilsteblowing to FCA i.e. irresponsible lending practices - Don't use it just yet though.

I and others really need to see a copy of your contract before any of us can actually advise you precising as to what you can do. So if you can get it posted up minus personal and company details, sooner rather than later, then we will be in a position to give you the advise you need, based on yours and their contract obligations!
