  • holiday entitlement

    Hi folks,

Bit of a smaller question than a lot on here, but it is asked more out of intrest.

my contracted hours are 38 hours a week being monday - thursday 8.15-17.15 and 8.15-12.15 on a Friday. We recently have been "back charged" for taking too much holiday in 2013 since we were all counting Fridays a being 4 hours (odd that)

We have been informed today that "Everyone’s holiday entitlement is calculated by taking 8.5 hours x 25 = 212.50 hours holiday As holiday can only be taken in full or half days a half day must be 4.25 hours and as such is allocated accordingly."

While not a major issue is does niggle a bit that we are "losing" 1/4 hours holiday on a Friday.

Whats they view of the assembled members.

    Cheers
    Simon

How many hours a week are you paid for? Multiply this by 5.6 and you get the correct number of hours holiday per year.

      Hi ploddertom,

Many thanks for that, I'm paid for 38 hours so yes they are right as i get 25 days. Still does not feel like cricket taking 4.25 hours for a 4 hour holiday. but such is life.

      Many thanks

Should be 212.8 = 18 mins they are attempting to steal from you.

I'll second that and as they are not allowed to deduct that from you & considering minimum period of time you can take off they have to give you the other 4hours 7mins out of the goodness of their heart. Are you allowed to carry hours over from 1 year to the next.
