Canada - UK - EU

Hello all,
I have a question and perhaps can someone help me?
The company that I work for has their HQ in Canada and UK. Most of work I do remotely (I work in my home for them) and I asked them if I can relocate and work in one of the EU countries. I aproached my
managment (Senior director and my manager) and asked them if this will be fine with them and they said yes they dont see any problems + they are happy with my work and etc. However when I aproached my HR dept. I was told that this is impossible as they need to have physical office?
Does legislation require a physical offices etc? Does anyone has any ideas?

Legislation requires a physical office for a company, but I don't see how this can be extrapolated to their employees.

can't you set up a shellocation at a solicitors office or similar to as thelegal hq of the company then work remotely .Isn.
't that more or less what you are doing now ? The company has an HQ in the uk and then you work remotely from it . i can't see how your phsical lcation is important except that your employer woud need to employ you according to the laws of whichever country you relocate to . That ma be the problem .

Not at all. What I waas saying was that the company needs a physical office, but I don't see any reason why their employees should need one as well.

I also have a friend who is employed by a British company, but works off the Gulf of Mexico and has his salary paid into a Swiss bank account without problems.

So now I need to support my request. Do you think there is a legislation or some kind of guide where I can download and then talk to HR dept?

Claiming Back Tax When Working Abroad


This proves it's possible and people do it. Perhaps a good place to start finding out the law would be HMRC - they are usually incredibly helpful over this sort of thing.
