Hi, looking for advice, hopefully someone can help.
The background is a bit long-winded I'm afraid....
I caught a male colleague staring at my behind at work, so I confronted him and asked him not to do it again as it made me feel uncomfortable. In return I was showered with a torrent of aggressive, and abusive behaviour which made me feel degraded. Another member of staff had to pull him away from me before something worse could happen.
At the time, there was no senior management on site, and the male in questions father is debuty site manager. Following the incident, I was assured by the site manager that the situation had been dealt with accordingly, but I have since found out that his son has been heard bragging that he got off scott-free.
Since that day, I have refused to have any contact with this person as it makes me very uncomfortable, angry, stressed and upset.
Now, my boss (his dad) has told me that if i continue to refuse to speak to this guy, then there will be a major issue, and that there will be casualties - implying that I will lose my job as a result.
i have tried to explain the reasons why I dont want to talk to him, but he just dismisses the whole event as based on my own opinions,and point-blank refuses to understand just how strongly I feel. All he does is tell me to stop being immature. I have told him that I dont want to speak to this guy, but i am willing to communicate by email to meet the requirements of my job.
I am the victim here, but it feels like I am being forced out of my job because of the way things have become. Some of my main duties have been taken away from me, and given to this guys son, so they're knowingly forcing me into a situation that they will know will result in problems.
Can someone please give me advice, as I really dont know what to do?
