  • Employer's liability insurance

I recently did a week's trial for a company. After that I was asked to come in for a paid week to see how I handled the hours.

I came in on third week, as instructed. I spoke to admin about my contract and she advised me it would be sorted soon. She also mentioned there was a slight mistake as she had been on holiday and that I should have not worked the second week as they hadn't insured me.

Just curios to the legality of it. All I can find on Google is they could be fined £2,500 a day until the employee is insured.

The company should have had ELI from the first day they employed anyone. Yes they can be fined £2,500 for everyday they are not properly insured.

I do not provide advice by PM although I may on occasion ask you to send me documents this way but any related advice will be provided back on your thread.

I do my best to provide good practical advice, however I do so without liability.
