  • Unfair dismissal?

Iv been made redundant from my job. I was hired for the job with a 6 month probation period. I was given an outline of what was needed from me to do the job. At my end of probation meeting I was told my roll was being made redundant. I was also told it’s because I didn’t gain enough leads through social media which is something that was never asked of me or in my job description or targets. It came as a complete shock. I was told I would be given training throughout my 6 month period to progress in the roll. I never received any training (0 minutes). I was then told I wasn’t experienced enough. In my dismissal letter they stated the reason for my dismissal was not gaining enough leads from social media. Do I have rights for an unfair dismissal?
    Thanks

    Good afternoon.

I hope you don’t mind me asking what your job role was?

As you have worked for the company for under two years unfortunately you are not entitled to an unfair dismissal claim. However you can claim if there has been any kind of discrimination towards you.

Regarding your training, if an employer does not provide adequate training then this will lead to poor job performance (not your fault) and most likely employees will search for jobs elsewhere.

    Hope this helps.

        Thankyou for your response.
my job roll was social media marketing. When I was hired I was promised full training and support in the job roll. This was never given and therefore they told me I was not experienced enough in the roll and made my job title redundant.

Hi TROTH1997 sorry to hear that the company has not provided you with the training and support on your probationary period.

Unfortunately with less than 2 years service, unless you can prove discrimination or for a few other criteria where this period of employment is not required then you would not be able to bring a claim for unfair dismissal.
If you would like a one-to-one expert consultation with me on your employment issue than I can be contacted by emailing admin@legalbeaglesgroup.com

I do not provide advice by PM although I may on occasion ask you to send me documents this way but any related advice will be provided back on your thread.

I do my best to provide good practical advice, however I do so without liability.
