  • PILON and date on reference.

    Hello all.

I'm trying to Google this PILON and EDT.

It seems most of the information refers to the EDT for tribunal claims.

I was terminated under PILON. What date should my employment reference give. Is it the day when my 1 month notice finishes or is it the date I got the termination letter? The PILON was executed on the day and a pilon clause does exist in my employment contract.

Please excuse typos and spacing, I am typing this on a mobile.

Also what should I do if my ex employer wants to give me a reference only up until the PILON letter date?

Is that right? I thought EDT under PILON was the date the notice period was paid up until?

I wanted to clarify PILON is payment in lieu of notice.

Basically the company terminates employment with immediate effect and pays me my notice in lieu.

    But this was completely unexpected.

Sensibly it would be the date you left the company. You did NOT get 1 months notice, hence the PILON notice.

In your termination letter what date was confirmed as your termination date and where you advised that the pay in lieu of notice (PILON) clause in your contract was to be effective?

The letter confirming your termination is your EDT.
