  • Acting Up Allowance

Hi, I am currently a civil servant and have a permanent contract at a certain grade. However, I have been Acting Up into a more senior grade now for over 6 years. This is because Senor management have been promising to do a review of structure for years but cant seem to get it going. The post im in though should not be affected as it is a recurrent post. Therefore my Acting Allowance of 10% just keeps getting extended time and again. There was no time set at the beginning. Is there any Employment Law I can force upon Senior Mngt?. Do I have any rights at that grade as I have been successfully acting into the post for that long with good performance reviews? Thanks in advance

Have you checked the HR policies to see whether there are any timescales to acting up a grade and/or getting automatic promotion?

But, as a civil servant, I doubt if the latter is an option due to 'open and transparent' recruitment processes.

Yes the policy is 2 years max, but doesn't say anything about what happens if it goes over.
