  • Multiple Fixed Term Contract Extensions

I was originally employed on a 6 month temporary contract. This was then extended for another 6 months. It was then extended for a further 3 months. Towards the end of this extension I applied for another job in the same company. This job was supposed to be a twelve month secondment. However I was put on a 12 month FTC instead. This has now been extended for 6 months and is due to end January 2020. As at September I have 2 years and 4 months continuous service with this company. By the end of the current FTC I will have 2 years and 8 months unbroken continuous service with the same company but in two different roles. There have been lots of 'promises' to make me permanent but so far this has come to nothing. If I am unable to find a permanent role within the company and do not get yet another extension to my current FTC in January 2020, do I qualify for redundancy? Incidentally the work I am currently doing will not cease when when my contract is due to expire.

Sorry not to get back to you sooner.

If your contracts have been directly with the company then you may be entitled to a redundancy payment depending on the reason why your contract is not being renewed. If there is deemed to be a redundancy situation then you would be entitled to the same redundancy rights as a permanent employee.
If you would like a one-to-one expert consultation with me on your employment issue than I can be contacted by emailing admin@legalbeaglesgroup.com

I do not provide advice by PM although I may on occasion ask you to send me documents this way but any related advice will be provided back on your thread.

I do my best to provide good practical advice, however I do so without liability.
If you have any doubts then do please seek professional legal advice.
