  • Comments made on Facebook - moving forward advice?

Just looking for a bit of advice on moving forward.
These comments were made in a small private group and are a year or two old now but obviously they're still there. The comments were not very favourable. Silly i know but it's done.

Nothing has been said & i am comfortable that nobody in the group would bring these to light, however without going too in to detail i'm unsure about 1 individual and i'm wanting to know the best way forward.

Obviously say nothing about work be it private or otherwise. For a good while now i've been thinking of deactivating my Facebook account but since Facebook actually has uses for me then creating a new one but ONLY having family and non-work colleagues on there. Very small numbers.

I know deactivating an account doesn't remove my messages, neither does 'removing' my messages as they'll still show on the other end. The only thing i can think of is a new account and a desperation - wasn't me officer as this here is my account. I really don't know.

Or is it best to just create a new account, have only friends & family, deactivate my current account, never talk about work online again and simply hope for the best that nothing ever gets said?

Can you not go and delete the comments you are concerned about ? Then have a clean out of your friends list ?

I just tried it and deleted a post I made in a group back in 2014.

I did some testing on this and found that there's no way to achieve what i wanted.

I can delete posts i made ... but that only applies to my device. The other group members can still see everything i put. Unless i delete a comment i made within about 10 minutes of making it. In other words i can't delete anything from yesterday & have that deleted on other peoples devices.

I then created a group with a couple family members & tried deleting the group - they could still see everything that was still said in that group.

I then created a group and tried deleting the people within that group - they could still see everything that had been said in the group even after i removed them. I then deleted the group and they could still see the comments.

So in short i can only think of 1 scenario where anything would come out of the group and i suppose i'd just have to hope that doesn't happen.

Ahhh it was messenger rather than a closed Facebook group. No you can't get rid of those unfortunately.
