  • Thames valley bhtv letter

I have received a letter from Thames valley bhtv magistrates telling me I owe £2,543.04. I have no idea what this is about and the letter does not say who I’m supposed to owe this money to?? Does anyone know how to check this as I’ve been provided with a reference number thanks

If it is about a debt (not about unpaid fines for a criminal offence) then a letter from a magistrates court is probably about unpaid council tax. Most debts are dealt with in civil courts but council tax arrears go to magistrates.

You have the reference number so ring the court and ask them for more details. You should have received corespondence from the court before it got to this stage but possibly you have moved and it went to an old address?
