  • £150 fee to pay to DWF and have received 3rd letter

    Hello fellow Legal Beagles,
I got stopped at the entrance of Sainsbury’s just before Christmas 23 with 6 protein bars I had not paid for, I had been shopping with my elderly mother and I used my Nectar card to get discount for her shopping. I admit felt an idiot when stopped and asked to go to a room where I was asked for proof of name and address. I was told I was banned from the store and given a letter to that effect. (In total I was back out in less than 10 minutes)
I have now received my 3rd letter and following advice from your site have completely ignored.
Could I please have some reassurance to carry on ignoring letters please and I will keep everyone updated.
    Many thanks John

Protein bars were returned in saleable condition and the £150 fee wanting paying is for Security.

      Hi JONNIEBEGOOD

      Welcome to LB

I personally would complain, an innocent mistake. People don't take their elderly mother to take things intentionally.

What they have sent is a speculative invoice, the cost of security is built into their business model, so security is not a cost in your incident.

Yes, they have no loss at all, what are security there for? If not to do their jobs.

Ignore, get on with your day to day life. Update if anything else materializes.

      Hopefully I've reassured you.

Just a update to say that since the 5th February 24 when I received the 3rd letter from DWF that I have not had any more letters, so fingers crossed and thank you for the advice to ignore them.
