  • Dwf fine - morrisons

Hello, I am new to this website but I really need advice. I am a young woman, currently on Universal Credit due to health reasons and last month, I was really really struggling financially. I mean every month is tight but it was a particularly hard month. I am not proud to say, in fact, I am utterly embarrassed and mortified, that I attempted to take some food items in desperation without paying. I paid for half of my shop, but I tried to sneak a few items with it. (Again, utterly appalled at myself). The security guard followed me out of the shop and stopped me. I have been banned from the supermarket for two years and after giving my details, was unaware that I'd be contacted by DWF. I'd like to note that the goods I'd tried to take were given back at the time. This fine is for £100. I have only so far received one letter, but I'm really scared because I can't afford to pay it, I can barely afford to live at the moment. Please can someone advise me on what to do?

    What you do is "NOTHING"

You have not received a fine, but an invoice for some imagined costs.
All you need to do is read and file this letter, and a few more they will send you which you can read in advance here: https://legalbeagles.info/forums/for...rs-rlp-and-dwf

There is no need to be concerned about these letters as they are just idle threats.
one of these firms tried a court claim against some shoplifters a few years back..... and lost
they haven't been back since as they are no better than vigilantes acting as judge jury and Lord High executioner

I answered the phone not knowing it was them - I said I couldn't pay until a few months time and they said that it's not acceptable.. they said they would continue action to receive the amount. I'm so scared!

Do they work with morrisons? Would they get CCTV from the store? Or is everything just entered into a database with numbers and names etc.. what if they take me to court?

Do they only claim for the reported offence? How involved is morrisons in this claim?

Calm down, block their telephone numbers on your phone. The likelihood of them taken any action is 'zero'.

All they can do is threaten this, threaten that. They can't justify any actual losses.
                Keep to this thread.

They are past masters at pressurising their victims.
I like (not) the way there is reference to your instalment plan!
You have not made any agreement with them (, and it is a perfect example of their use of pro forma letters which are sent out routinely

for a firm of solicitors i think DWF are a disgrace

I spoke to my mum about it and told her what the woman said - she said it sounded like it's someone in a call centre told to ring down a list of people? I'll just keep checking the post for anything that looks like a court order! Blocked the number bc it feels like harassment. And as I said, it was appalling on my part for doing it and I've massively learnt my lesson, but I don't owe any money to Morrisons as they took the food items back. Thank you so much for all of your advice! It's really helped to calm my nerves - I'd obviously pay the fine if I actually could afford to.. it seems easier and less stressful - but unfortunately I'm really not in the position to.

And I did call them when I received the first letter because obviously I was panic stricken (constant state of being at the moment) - to set up a plan to pay it back but that was before I found LB and all of the other threads associated with DWF. Is this going to affect anything?
