  • Cabot / doorstep visit

I was repaying a Sainsburys loan for a couple of years even though they were the only OC to continue charging interest on my account. After persevering with them, they agreed to freeze the interest but within a couple of months I was informed that the debt had been sold to Cabot.

I then received a letter from Cabot asking me to contact them in order to set up a payment plan but decided to wait for the second letter, which I imagined would follow very shortly. This was about 3 months ago and I have had no further correspondence.

I know that they have phoned me many times as I googled the number but I have never actually spoken to them. Still no further correspondence.

However, I have had a visit from who seemed to be a debt collector, asking for me by name and I have no idea what made me do this but I denied any knowledge of knowing the person and they asked for a forwarding address. I just again said that I don't know this person.

I am at a loss as where to go from here, I can't understand why they have only ev sent one letter. An advice?

Did Cabot not advise you of their proposed visit?

Please, see 2.12(a) of the following:

No, I have had no warning at all. I wonder of they will attempt another visit? Also, does anyone know if Cabot are part of Apex? Thanks.

Also, just to add, after reading some of the info on here last night, it does look like an odd letter from Sainsburys advising me that they have sold my debt, their logo is just black photocopy and not the usual orange stuff. Both letters from OC and DCA have same date on.
