  • Cabot chasing alleged debt 15+ years old

I have received a letter from Cabot which is in a name I haven't used for at least 15 years. They are alleging I owe money for a career development loan. I don't know what to make of this! Statute barred surely? And why have they suddenly got in touch?

      Hi Beez

      Welcome to LB

If you haven't made a payment or acknowledged the debt in writing the last 6 years then the debt is statute barred (providing there is no CCJ).

Send the following, make sure you get Proof of Postage:

Thank you, I knew nothing about it so definitely haven't made payments. No ccj that I've ever been aware of, have had credit reports over the years and nothing showed up there.
