Hi, according to my credit file Cabot Finance have issued a CCJ against me. Basically, my situation is that I sold my home in 2021, left my job and now live in a motorhome (just parking up where I can) I did email Cabot to let them know my situation back in 2021. So I’ve never received any letters regarding the CCJ, as they’ve probably been sent to my old address. Therefore my question is A. Is the CCJ legal? B. It was issued over a month ago so how do I go about sorting out repayments?

Hi Vantheman
Welcome to LB
Write to Cabo, get Proof of Postaget, explain that you emailed them in 2021 (have you saved the email) and that you didn't receive the CCJ documents from them. You can seek consent from them to set a side the CCJ, if they give consent it will cost £100 or so, rather then the full fee. Then you can decide how to proceed, defend or make arrangements to pay.
A. Is the CCJ legal?
It's legal in so far as they seemed to follow the procedures to get the CCJ.
B. It was issued over a month ago so how do I go about sorting out repayments?
As above, to get the CCJ removed.
