Looks like you have already been well advised, but Cabot are a "law" unto themselves.
Seems you have already followed the correct path with regards SD debts, time to get Trading Standards involved with this and lodge a formal complaint concerning Cabot's behaviour in this matter.

The only acknowledgment of this debt was in 1998 when we wrote to barclaycard. Even when Cabot contacted out of the blue I wrote to them and told them it was stat barred. Then no contact again untill these cropped up on my CRA report after I opened a bank account and took a credit card on.
