  • Virgin Media 4th County Court Claim

We had a broadband rental contract with Virgin media

In January 2021 I phoned Virgin Media advising them we no longer needed their service at the end of February and we would be vacating the property where the equipment was installed during the second week in March.
Virgin Media said they would collect their equipment or send a box for us to return the equipment. They terminated the service in February as agreed but failed to collect the equipment or send a box for us to return the equipment. In March we vacated the property and left the equipment there.
Six months after contacting Virgin Media, on 7th June 2021 a Virgin Media employee named Stuart phoned to collect the equipment.
Since April 2021 I have been harassed by Virgin Medias very aggressive debt collection department pestering me at work and home, demanding a payment of £50.04

    I have been harassed by three debt collection agencies namely;
    • JC International Acquisition LLC
    • Capital Resolve Nationwide Debt Recovery and Trace Investigation
    • BPO Collections
    • BW Collections

Virgin Media and or these agencies have harassed me with dozens of phone calls, texts and letters the latest is dated 28/11/2025
I have taken virgin media to the small claims court three times regarding the same matter. The first time was 11/06/2021. The papers were never served as they were returned to the court by Virgins parent company; “wrong address“
    First claim: H34YJ988
We originally filed a claim in June 2021 which was received at CCMCC on 11/06/2021. The papers were returned to the court NO LONGER AT THIS ADDRESS. However, this was the address Virgin Media Limited advertised on google as their legal department. The claim went stale and died, but the emails texts phone calls and letters continued.
Second claim: 368MC138 On 16th March 2023 our claim was settled in mediation, Virgin Media Limited agreed to pay us £1,750, this payment was in full and final settlement, and doesn’t form part of this claim, but serves only to provide background to the current claim.
Third claim: 403MC543 9th May 2023 was struck out as my claim had no basis in law. However, costs of £1,000 were claimed by Virgin Media but the judge ruled that costs would not be payable as the case was not without merit.
On 28/11/2025 the harassing phone calls emails started again.
On what basis in law can I take Virgin Media to court?
    How much can I claim?

Second claim - is it possible that the £1,750 was in full and final settlement of all claims you might have against VM? Did you not get them to agree to stop pursuing you?

What was the legal basis of your third claim?
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.
