I did not claim Interest in the Particulars of Claim

As a litigant in person, I was not familiar with the process. I made a claim for damages. I made no mention of interest due frankly to naivety. No trial date has been set yet but due to Covid-19, it has taken a long time to get this far. By now, interest would mount up to a considerable amount, as I believe that the rate is about 8%. Is there anything which I can do at this stage of proceedings ? Does the Court have nay discretion over this ? I wrongly assumed that it was an automatic entitlement.

I have now learnt that it is necessary to make an Application on N244 to obtain permission to amend the Particulars of Claim to include this.

And the cost of the application will probably be more than the interest
