Good afternoon,
I am being chased for university fees. The long and short of it is that I applied for a Student loan, it was refused so I left the Course in November 2013 but now they are charging me fees of over £2k for one term. I only knew about this debt in January 2015 when I was contacted by the Debt Collectors. Apparently, the university sent the invoice to me university email address even though I had left and no longer had access to this account. They did have me home address, personal email address and telephone number but chose not to use them. I have always denied owing this money but now I have received a Court Claim by Hadfield Solicitors working with STA INTERNATIONAL Debt Collectors. I returned the form stating my intention to defend all of the claim. I sent a CPR31.14 but they have not responded and I need to get my defence in no later by 23rd July so time is fast running out. In addition, STA INTERNATIONAL wrote to me in December to state their solicitors "would send me a Letter Before Court Action" which I never received. The Court Claim arrived on 22nd June so time started ticking on 27th June. Can anyone assist me with how I can put Defence together and, would it even by worth trying to fight this? I do not want to end up with a CCJ
