It is also relevant to note that, in the grand scheme, this claim is for a fairly modest amount.
I doubt whether Lowells will want to spend much in chasing it.
The more hoops they are required to jump through, the more they may be inclined to call off the dogs of war.

To be honest because of that reason I've contemplated just paying it incase there is something Lowell do pull out of the bag in their favour. The last thing I want is to go down the ccj route.

They did send me a letter on Saturday offering me an opportunity to pay it with a reduced rate.

Hi. I guess Its up to you but you can pay at anytime including mediation without getting a ccj.
I know i would begrudge paying unless i had to.

You could wait to see if they can productive documents and go forward

They have made the decision to litigate.
They now have the burden to prove their case.
If it were me defending, I would endeavour to make that task as onerous as possible for them.
Making them reveal exactly what they have in their 'bag' will help you to get a better idea of your legal position.
If you then decide to negotiate, you can do so from a stronger position.
