  • cancellation fee payment for personal lease hire

    Hi
Do I have to pay the cancellation fee for this car lease order?
On Friday Jan 13th I received an online quote for a citroen from a car leasing broker firm. I accepted the quote and ordering started. The firm also arranged finance. I read terms and conditions and signed electronically. Still Jan 13 . The order was confirmed and only now do they state that I have to take delivery at the end of January ( I do not need it until end of March). Over the phone I explained this date was too early and they said they would look for something else. By email I said "Is it possible to cancel this quote and start again in late Feb/March?"

On Monday 16th Jan they suggested (by email) a car that was £30 a month higher than the citroen. I said this was too high and wrote "We had better leave things for the time being. The quotes are too high."

On Jan 23rd I had an email from their admin dept asking for finance contracts back and signed to get the car delivered on time!! My response was that I cancelled over week ago. This was confirmed by the broker after she (admin) discussed with sales. Admin cancelled the order.

On Jan 24th email from a third person asking me to settle cancellation fee of £500 +vat.

I feel my cancellation should be penalty free as I cancelled so soon and they gave no idea of delivery before ordering.

    Many thanks

    Barry Garfitt
