    Help Please !!

    I Have Just Received a county court claim form from Lowell for a bill that they say has been assigned to them - I have been advised by a (unqualiified) friend that as i have not acknowledged any debt to anybody i most certainly do not have a debt to Lowell !

    Is This Correct ??

    Your friend is very wrong!!!
    if you don't respond to the claim you will get judgement by default.

      Hi Welcome to Legal Beagles...

      If you can post up a copy of the claim form after removing any private information that would be a good starting point to get the best help and advice ... But to put it simply if you have received a claim form you MUST respond to ensure there is not a default judgment made against you...

        @joedempsey is quite correct.
        The court's instructions & timetable are now paramount.
        Acknowledge the claim asap per the info in the claim pack.
        & if you would like to give us some details of the alleged debt, perhaps we can assist.
        At the top of the thread (First Steps) is a good start.

          Acknowledge Claim - within 14 days from Service

          Defend Claim - within 28 days from Service (IF you acknowledged in time)

          If you fail to Acknowledge the claim you may have a default judgment awarded against you, likewise, if you fail to enter your defence within 28 days from Service.
