Also, I have just noticed the default amount has increased from 638 to 819 at the beginning of this month- why is it even still on my file- the account opened in 2007 and no payments were made since it was opened.

Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.

          Hello JOJO,
          The claim was discontinued ?
What is the default date showing on the credit file now?
I'm guessing but I think they have added the court costs etc.
          to the debt.
The discontinued claim does not mean the debt ceases to
exist the debt stays on credit files for 6 years from the default
date and is removed on the 6th anniversary of that date.##
Which company now shows an the files as the owner of the debt?

Wow that sucks, so theoretically they could sell the debt on and the next company could put it through the court?
It still shows as with Lowell though in my case.
Yes they did discontinue but I could swear I got a letter saying the account balance is now £0.00. I really really need to find it! I am surprised that they would still bother to add amounts to the debt if they know they cannot legally claim it from me?
The default date I believe is wrong at it is a good 4 years after the account opened, and bearing in mind not a single payment was EVER made on the account- this is a very long time for it to 'default' would you agree?
I have disputed the default date through my credit file in hope that will shed some light on it or get it cleared off sooner but as it stands, I will be waiting until Feb 2017 for it to come off going by the default date on my file (2011).
