I am assuming its a catalogue dept but my wife assures me she has not had a catalogue in her name apart from a next catalogue with only a £100 limit

We have no idea were the dept has come from we have been living at this address since 2006 since we bought our own home so nearly 10yrs, and never had a catalogue in this time apart from next, and especially with a 5,000 limit or there a bouts

We are unsure of our next step I was thinking of phoning Shop Direct during business hours with the account number provided and going straight to the source is this a good idea

This letter received today is our first correspondence about the dept with this company or any other

Re: Court Claim - Lowell / Shop Direct - 27-11-2014

    Hi and welcome

You need to acknowledge the claim within 14 days of receipt and follow the process outlined below, whereby you request proof of the debt from Lowell in the form of a CCA request and BC with a CPR request for documents to back up their claim. Shop Direct probably won't be much help if the debt was sold to Lowell in 2010. Once you acknowledge you will have a total of 33 days from date on claim to submit a defence. :clock:

1: ACKNOWLEDGE THE CLAIM - you can do this online usually at www.moneyclaim.gov.uk
You'll need your claim reference and password from the front of the claim form

2: Send A CCA REQUEST to the CLAIMANT ( see here )
This applies to all credit cards / loans / hire purchase / store cards type debt. It doesn't apply to Mobile Phones / Utilities or Overdrafts.

3: Send a CPR request to the CLAIMANT'S SOLICITORS ( see here )

This applies to everything unless they happen to have supplied you with a bunch of paperwork to back up their claim (v. unlikely)
