Do you know what it is for? as it is one of their pay that now and we file as satisfied or use one of our many (non) helpful schemes which you pay in the next few years with a lot less discount, if you should pay that and end any owed amounts make sure that written letter stating no further attempt to sell balance on?

With that discount even if yours it's likely unenforceable, statute barred or similar.

if you are not going to ignore them then I would start off with a generic,

"I do not recognise owing you anything. Prove that I do and provide details, or **** off."

Whatever to do, DO NOT trust AK! Don't speak to them over the phone. Years ago I made the big mistake of taking them up on one of their "generous" offers and "settled" a small debt with my debit card, only to be chased for the balance, on and off, till recently. :mad2: The infamous settlement offer came after heaps of letters and calls, must have been in 2008! Still got letters earlier this year, which I ignored. :mad2:
