  • Claim Form Recieved

I'm posting this on behalf of a friend.

Late last week, he received a claim form from a company of solicitors in connection with a credit card debt.

He is adamant that this is the first he's heard of the matter. I accept that its likely that he is being economical with the truth & I doubt a firm of professional solicitors would not follow protocol.

My friend has already filed an acknowledgement of service and plans to defend the claim. I have not discussed the grouds for defence at this point, I'm more concerned with his lack of paperwork.

Is there any way of getting this case put on hold whilst he can get hold of paperwork?

Could he just put a very basic denial of liability down as his defence at this stage and put a more detailed statement in at a later stage?

What options are there (if any) for someone who has no paperwork connected to a claim?

    Thanks in advance

There are a few that don't, especially in debt matters.
