I have a CCJ . I do owe the money as I was the guarantor of a business before it liquidated. Any advice welcome. It was a Lloyd's bank overdraft of £20000 plus fees.

Are there any circumstances where I would be able to fight this. We are really struggling. We do own a house with large equity but day to day living is really tight.

I have dealt with many cases of this kind, from both sides. Your chances of being able to contest this claim successfully are slim. You would depend on there being some defect in the guarantee - these things happen, but are rare.

Of course as judgement has been entered, you would need to apply to the court to set the judgement aside. Assuming that judgement was entered regularly in accordance with the Civil Procedure Rules, you would need to show that you have a defence that has a realistic chance of success.
