Long story but really need advice, so had a loan through work and paid it every month for last 2 years and no issues with work at all. I then found a better job so handed my notice in, Employer said loan needs to be paid in full on my leaving date. I owed nearly £4000 so couldnt agree to this and explained in wirting even giving them a income/expend. I did offer to pay more than the monthly payments after I left to clear it quicker. They refused and said they would take my entire salary on my leaving date which they did leaving me with zero and no way of paying rent or bills.
I have never had any loan statement or payslip this month so no idea how much is outstanding. Today just 9 days after I left I have recieved a court summons for the loan. How can they do this after just 9 days this has given me no chance to do anything. I had to borrow from family just to pay the rent !
Im not diagreeing that I owe the money but this surely cant be right. I dont even know if the amount is correct. I now cant afford to pay much to them at all Im talking a few pounds a month as I have arrears from prority bills and family to pay back as no wages this month has already had a huge impact and could of easily been prevented. I now will end upo with a ccj for the next 6 years !
What should I do ? acknowledge the claim and offer a small amount or would I be able to defend it somehow
