Update - the defendant has had their CCJ set aside. In relation to my other posts, it seems that if the claimant or their legal representative applies to the court to have the CCJ set aside, it all goes through the process far quicker than if the defendant does so.

I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed their thoughts and advice and assisted me in dealing with this matter on behalf of the defendant who is understandably very relieved.
