  • Ccj from dcbl

    Hello,

I recently came to discover that I’ve somehow acquired a CCJ due to moving home and forgetting to tell the necessary parties now they are asking for 300 quid to settle it. What do I do? I can afford it but to be honest it’s for a parking situation last year during Covid.

If I wasn’t ever going to need credit in the next few years is there any point in trying to get rid of my CCJ?

im also on a DPM with Stepchange can I ask them to do something about this?

    thank you for your help.

Do you have a defence to the original claim?

        Who is the parking company?
Were they legally represented, & if so, who? (I'm guessing DCB legal).
Who is asking for the £300? DCB Legal? Someone else?
I doubt whether DCB Legal is the Judgment Creditor.

Yes it’s DCBL who have sent me the letter but they say the client is Civil Enforcement Ltd

CEL are (allegedly) notorious for issuing court claims to old (previous) addresses, obtaining default judgments, then *miraculously* obtaining the current address to enforce the judgment.
You could get the CCJ set aside either with consent (CEL agrees), or without consent (no need to get their agreement).
            The application costs
            For the former, £108
            For the latter, £275
You would also need to have a reasonable defence.

So I just fill out this form and then send it? Will DCBL consent? I’d like to do it as cheaply as possible.
