So the time is coming (30/10/19) to attend my local small claims court, and I've just received this - is this good/bad/nothing?

Good. It means there will be nobody acting for them at the court hearing

Have you got your witness statement ready to send.

Go through their statement and see if they are trying to add new arguments.

        Great news!

Though you've lost me at witness statement - could you give an idea of what to prepare?
How would one look at their statement?

(It seems there's always more to learn, so thank you for the help!)

The court gave instructed you to submit all the documents you intend to use some days (normally 14) before the hearing. You submit to the court and the other party.

Did you receive their witness statement with that letter?

A witness statement is your chronological story of events together with any exhibits you wish to show to the court

I uploaded a defence online, I didn't think anything further was required. That said, I wasn't asked for anything further and I didn't receive anything from the other party.

Go and read your court documents. Does it not say that all documents intended to be used in court are to be submitted to the court? OK you don't have to send anything but did you mention documents in your defence?

I didn't use any documents, the only thing I referred to was signage - which was provided by the claimant to my understanding.

(I could be entirely wrong, in which case how would I go about sorting this out as I thought I'd covered everything the court had requested?)

                Many thanks!
