Long winded but I work in local government. A person came to me and reported an alleged assault from another staff member to me. It allegedly happened outside of work but I line manage the alleged offender and the partner. I checked on the well-being of the partner on finding out the information and reported the situation in line with work policy as well as contacting well-being on behalf of the alleged assaulted person. This was then reported to the police (not by me but by the persons I reported it to). This all happened last year and for one year I have had to put up with the behaviours of the person reported and now the partner and feel like I’ve been bullied and victimised for reporting it. I have also been informed by my managers that if I hadn’t reported it I could have faced disciplinary action. This person has now been arrested and has been suspended but I am now dealing with the partner of the suspended individual. I feel like they are supporting this person even though they technically are not involved because they are a protected characteristic. This person has been given options as they are refusing mediation. However, as their line manager, I am not being included in any discussions about how this can be resolved. Do I have a case here for bullying and victimisation? I am currently off with work place stress

You need to report this and support your reasons with any proof you may have, letters, e-mails or whatever. Does your company have an HR department in which cas this needs to be officially reported to them. If not then seek the guidance of solicitors specialising in this type of work ethic. You have rights so use them
