Hi, a dispute over dilapidation of a commercial property. The rent was greatly reduced by former landlord due to the state of the very old building, ex tenant was going to give it up but landlord asked him to stay if he reduced the rent as he didn't want the property empty. New landlord taken over and sent a surveyors report, the building was empty at this point. There are items listed as removed that were never even in the property and a lot more such as cracks in the walls, defective windows etc. all which were a problem when the ex tenant occupied it but maybe a few he is responsible for. The new landlord is asking a ridiculous amount of money for the whole job lot. Would it be possible for the Ex Tenant to get his own builders in (obviously a reputable builder) to do the work he feels he is responsible for? He would just like to clarify before he goes in with this offer. Thanks in advance, any advice greatly appreciated
