  • Nolan procedding to court action

I had some debt prior to Covid which was with Cabot and now they have instructed Nolan’s to pursue

back story - became disabled during Covid and had to leave my job for 25 years plus and therefore went without wages as this occurred and relied on benefits

i had asked citizen advice to contact debts where £1 payments had been set up but over time these debts got sold on again and again.

Nolan’s sent threatening legal letters and advised them I would need to contact citizens advice due to my disability and precious history’s of being scammed . I had requested proof of debt and other documents and they policed account on hold . At Xmas they stopped communicated to citizens advice and kept coming Direct with emails giving deadlines to meet - and stated citizens advice hadn’t contacted them .

i sent them income and expenditures highlighting an upfront payments and monthly payments of £50 which would be taken from birthday money set aside but they keep rejecting.

my husband then noticed these emails and contacted them on my behalf again requesting things such as proof of debt , payments etc and they reiterated this had been requested but gave me until same day that universal credit statement was generated to send this to them. Advised them this didn’t give any time to seek advice from citizens advice and re-iterated the offer we had made and also request of evidence .

today they emailed back saying they decline all offers and will now take court action and ref information they requested of client that this had been requested and there was nothing they could do about this.

what do we do now, on universal credit, debt is over 8 years and £2700 and has been sold on to various company’s so not sure whom has revived what ?

    Hi Sad Beagle

    Welcome to LB

You've filled in an Income and Expenditure form, offered to make a monthly payment and they have rejected it, is that correct?

    What reason have they given?

The FCA says that firms should be understanding regards 'vulnerable customers', seems like Cabot aren't interested.
