Hello, please could I ask for some advice as I’m really scared. I did a stupid thing 4 months ago where I took £50 out the tin from my work because I was really struggling and unwell. I was really unwell and needed to get some perscriptions so I took it . This was on the Saturday. On the Monday I had been paid so I took the money out of in cash so I could put it back without anyone knowing but the company had put up CCTV cameras which I hadn’t been told about so I was called in to the office where I admitted taking it. Offered to give the money there and then. I explained why I did and how much I regret it. They didn’t want me to repay then but took it out of my final wage and I was dismissed. The following week I was diagnosed with a rare brain condition and have been extremely unwell since it all so I kept away from everyone there as the guilt and shame was affecting me even tho I had paid it back and it was settled at the work place. Since then I have been having jokes put on social media about me which I now have blocked. 4 months on, today I received a voicemail from a police man saying it has been reported to them and for me to email him using the email he gave but not to panic at all but I really am! He replied to me email saying wants to arrange to come ti my home address on Saturday to discuss this and what will happen going forward. Can someone please tell me what might happen? I’ve already admitted it and I have already repaid it. I’m so scared right now.

Whatever else you do, do not talk to the police without your solicitor being present.
Reply to his email telling him you will only discuss the matter in the presence of your solicitor.
If you do not have, and cannot afford your own, ask for the duty solicitor to be present.
This is your right, and do not be fobbed off by the police saying there is nothing to worry about, it's only for a chat etc.
In this situation the police are not your friends!
The police will need to schedule the meeting so the solicitor can accompany you.

Acknowledge Claim - within 14 days from Service
Defend Claim - within 28 days from Service (IF you acknowledged in time)
