  • Representation in a Remote Hearing

I have a 30-minute remote hearing for a claim at the Royal Courts of Justice, King’s Bench Division. I understand that typically only barristers can represent clients in the High Court, but is it different for a remote hearing before a Master? Can a solicitor represent me instead? My main concern is the cost difference between a solicitor and a barrister.

A solicitor can appear before a Master. But make sure you find one who is a competent advocate.

    What is the hearing about?
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf

Thanks for your response. The hearing is about my claim, and the defense has applied for a strike out. I'm looking for representation for the 30 minute remote hearing.

Can you post a copy of their application up so we can get an idea of how likely they are to succeed?
