  • How long do the courts take to process Form N244?

Does anyone have experience of how long it typically takes for a Court to process Form N244 and set a hearing date for a CCJ to be set aside?

I am posting a link to a previous reply to a similar question: https://legalbeagles.info/forums/for...28#post1676728
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf

Apologies - rushed in due to the mounting pressure to get this resolved and *duh* didn't realise I had double-posted.

Anyhow - after waiting 40 minutes I finally got through to the Civil National Business Centre (by the way, the email address on the website CCBC@justice.gov.uk is to a mailbox no longer in use and it is tricky to find what the new one is).

Apparently, it takes 4 weeks minimum to process any submission and check it is correct (including any authority for a third party to act on behalf of the defendant) and then a further 8 weeks for the hearing to be scheduled (if I heard that right). In a case like the one I am dealing with, this kind of delay will have serious repercussions on the defendant.

for submitting the application the email is
        Applications.CNBC@justice.gov.uk

        check progress it is

        CaseProgression.CNBC@justice.gov.uk

I don't think you have heard it right to be honest. It is 4 weeks for them to check over the application and make sure it is correct. It will then get served along with a hearing date in the Claimant's preferred court (if they are an individual) or defendant's hoem court (if the claimant is a business).

The hearing date is then likely around 3-4 months for most CC so the whole process is circa to 5 months. Although bare in mind some county courts such as manchester, are around 2 months just to scheduel the hearing, and then a further 4 months for the hearing, so 7 months in total.

depends a lot on the CC. Sadly applications to set aside are just civil short applications, which unfortunately covers an awful lot of differnt things, and are given a very small amount of sitting time, which means they take a while.

The only time that N244 move quickly is if a hearing is not needed, then its around a month or so in total which is very good.

You should get a notice in around a month with a hearing date, but that date will likely be into sep/oct
