Increasing claim amount after claim submission

Hi there,

I am the claimant in a small claim case. I started my claim in June 2022 for an amount to cover the repair by others for issues caused by a trader’s work.

Now I received the directions, and upon collecting the evidence and photographs, there are new issues that have appeared that weren’t visible at the time of starting the claim, which will cost a significant increase from the original submitted claim amount.

Can I add the new increased amount in my witness statement and request that in the trial instead of the original amount? Or how can I officialise that?

You may need to apply for permission to amend your claim. You may need to pay an additional court fee in respect of the increased amount of the claim.
