Our alarm company was taken over and we do not like new company. I have been billed £96 or so for service,at which point I said cancel any account I have with you. They then said as per terms and conditions I need to give 3 months notice and still pay the £96. When I said I was unaware of the 3 months notice or their T&Cs,they sent copy of contract with original company, dated 1995, they had taken over, but I do not have any agreement with new company so where do I stand? Any legal boffins out there...?

What notification were you sent of the transfer of the business? Did you respond in any way?
I am trying to work out whether you can simply say that you have no agreement with the new company.Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.
