  • Car purchased but later found out it had previously been written off

Just trying to gauge whether there is any point in making a small claims court case as I have just bought a car from a private seller that I have now discovered has previously been written off (cat c).

no mention of this in advertisement or when questioning seller on things I need to be aware of.

I understand that as a private seller I take on any maintenance needs such as a new clutch (wasn’t advised of this either) not a problem that’s the risk you take. But having paid around £1000 more than the cars value with a cat c on the v5 i would like to try and get some of this back.

I have emailed the seller advising him of my disappointment and also requesting details / paperwork to give me more info on damage and quality or repair to re register it. V5 shows that seller was the 1st buyer after being re registered. Seller has not responded.

anyone had any experience of this and whether it is worth pursuing?
