Email in Court

Hi, this is my first post so hopefully I'm posting in the right forum.

I was wondering about how or if emails can be used in the court of law. For example, if an email has been sent to a recipient by mistake, can that recipient use that email against the intended recipient in court?

If so, are there any ways it can be dismissed?

Most emails has a confidentiality declaration at the end of the email, what to do if you aren't the intended party and receive an email in error. I think what you would have to do, is make known to the sender that you have received the email in error and ask the courts permission to use that email as evidence in your case.
