  • Old court cases archived?

Is it possible to somehow get information on a court case from 25 years ago, the person now is deceased. If so how do I go about this please?

Unfortunately, unless the court case is of major significance or in the public interest I very much doubt there will be any existing records after twenty-five years.

We don't know what type of case or it's significance, so it might be of help.

Do you know which case the OP is looking for?

Hi I am not sure what the crimes where, whether it was a crown court or magistrates Court, maybe both. There was a short prison sentence but possibly more previously. I contacted probation services and they told me that the offender wasn't on probation at any time.

So what shall I do, contact the courts directly to ask? I am in the long process of trawling through newspaper archives.

            Then try the courts.

With scant information it would be easier to find a needle in a haystack.

The Courts wont help at the moment because since covid they are struggling to cope, to such an extent that four nightingale criminal courts have opened to try and relieve the pressure.

Your only hope is that there is a microfiche record somewhere but you will need to know the search criteria.
