Yes that’s correct. The consultant solicitors fee has been added as a disbursement and a counsel fee. The work wasn’t completed by them, thus why we believe the costs are not justified.

You say you stopped using the solicitor because of "lack of progress". How did you stop using them - if you did so by terminating your agreement with them, did you follow the termination terms in the agreement?

Are the additional fees and costs you are disputing payable as a result of you terminating the agreement... ?

The DOS was 11th March, AoS was served 24th March and Defence served 13th April. Have I abided by the rules?
The solicitor emailed in early august saying ‘you have served your defence to the Court out of time which was due on the 8th April 2021, but was served on the 13th April 2021. Therefore, you are required to make an application to seek relief from the Court and we put you on notice with regards our wasted costs.’

The witness statement is currently due but I want to check this

There were no fees mentioned in the agreement, with regards to terminating. They have sent 3 separate bills but each have slightly different costs but with the same tasks. they emailed one month after the verbal agreement of terminated to say they were closing the case.

If you Acknowledge of Service on 24th March, it gives you an extra 14 days to file your defence, so it looks like your defence was filed late.
