  • Poor workmanship. Changed company name

Dear all. I'm looking for some advice. I had some work done to recoat some upvc windows. The paint has begun to peel off of some of the windows. I contacted the trader in the summer and he said he would come and rectify this. I have not heard anymore. I have tried to contact him through Facebook but he is unavailable on Messenger. He is not responding to emails. His website is still visible. When I looked for information on his company, it said that the the company name had been changed in October 2020. However, the company number which is registered is still the same. He is no longer registered as a director. But there is another name which I assume is his wife slash partner. The address of the business is still the same.
The work came with a 10 year guarantee and although I do not have this on paper it is still visible on his website. That this is the case.

My question is do you think I have any chance of success pursuing this through a small claims court, given that the company name has changed but the company number registered with Companies House remains the same. Any advice would be appreciated.

Any company can change its name but if the company number is the same, its the same company.
