  • Tesco band and fine

Hi i have do a stupid thing and got caught shoplifting today with a bottle of drink , sandwich an umbrella as it was absolutely pouring down and some deodorant. I bought loads of other shopping for some reason did not pay for these my mind is all over the place at the moment due to family circumstances and didn't pay for them no excuse I know. I got taken into a back room with a security team and 3 of the staff members and asked to empty my bags out for which I did, they ask why I did it and I explained to them I absolutely had no reason it's just a lot of my mind at the moment they didn't believe me they kept showing me photos of me doing things in the shop or things they thought i eas doing.and told them I had no other items on me. I offered to pay for these items and was told that I could not pay for them. They kept all the items and told me I was banned from the store and that I would have a civil recovery letter sent to me with a fine to pay there will be no court action. Do I have to pay for this fine considering they kept all the items and all the items could be resold apart from the sandwich which I offered to pay for.

No you do not have to pay, this is not a fine, only courts and authorised bodies can fine people.* They are none of those.* They are trying to claim for an imaginary loss,* just ignore.

Did they keep the items you actually bought?
