Not given much info, but the standard of normal reasonable pre-action conduct for the resolution of clinical disputes is set out in the pre-action protocol. https://www.justice.gov.uk/courts/pr...tocol/prot_rcd

Sorry, but you have given no info, so impossible to respond.
Whose lawyers are you awaiting a response from, yours or the clinician's?
How far down the process have you gone?
To what are you awaiting a response?

So you have sent a letter of claim and are awaiting a letter of response?

a letter of claim should be acknowledged within 2 weeks of receipt, and a reasoned answer within 4 months

Basically I sent an email to Solicitors and now I'm waiting for a decision on whether they're gonna take my case on or not. Is that called a Letter of Claim? How long should I wait for a decision?

So all you have done is ask a solicitor if they will act for you.
                Give them a telephone call

I don't like speaking on the phone. Should I email them tomorrow, it will be 14 days?

OK, email them, but if you are intending to progress a claim it might be necessary to speak with your legal team.
If the lawyers from whom you are seeking assistance are not based locally to you, it could involve a lot of travelling if you can't use the 'phone.
