  • URGENT: Asking the court to reconsider

    Hi,
My husband has received a letter from the court asking him to make regular payment of £50 a month towards debt. I did not know anything about this court claim as I would have helped him deal with it. MY husband has been in the hospital for two weeks and still being treated for meningitis. He is also disabled and his only income is his PIP which he uses for his care. What can we do? I am not able to pay for his debt as I am already paying for all the bills and we have two children. My salary does not stretch enough. Please, advice needed.

Did you get any indication of the case, like a claim letter from the court?

I am afraid I don't know as this is the first thing I know about this. I assume he must have done but I have not seen one otherwise I would have dealt with it.

Does anyone have any advice? I was thinking of writing to the court and the "company" explaining the situation and asking them to reconsider as he has no available income.

So find out first if he had received the claim form from the court.

Yes he did but did not say anything. To be fair he had been feeling unwell for some time before he was diagnosed with meningitis. Can we do something now?

I really could do with some advice here. Could someone let me know what it is best to do. I am panicking. Should cover his first payment at least to win some time though I am already stretched as it is myself covering all the bills, food etc. Please anyone? Thank you!!

Can I ask if he has other debts as well? Are you buying or renting?
