  • Court form for water bill

    Have received a claim form from county court business centre on behalf of South west water.
    surname is my pre martial name do I still have to accept all of the claim?

    You should treat the form as though it was correctly addressed to you.
    This is a technicality and as long as you are the correct person the court would/will allow an amendment to the pleadings.
    Assuming the claim is for an alleged debt incurred before your marriage how should the claimant know you were now married?

    Firstly acknowledge the claim form and indicate you will be defending the claim.
    you dispute part of the claim?

      Please note that most Water Co's if they obtain a CCJ against you and it is for more than £600 will transfer it up to the High Court for enforcement purposes and this can add substantially to the debt outstanding. Best if possible, if the debt is outstanding, is to agree a suitable payment arrangement with the Water Co.
